It wasn’t until recently that I found a love hate relationship with the spring semester. Really, it only took three years of college to develop this type of relationship. After coming back from winter break, the countdown until class was the most dreadful thing to ever encounter. I was not prepared to walk in the cold weather half a mile just to get to class, yet my course list for this spring was something that I was truly looking forward to.

The weather itself is the entire con of the spring semester. You don’t understand the hardship of college until you have to wake up at 8am to walk 20 minutes to a building on the other side of campus with wind pounding against your skin. On top of everything, the cold weather doesn’t agree with my choice of shoes. Not all of my shoes are winter material which then tends to cause a change of style for the rest of my outfit.

Now, I know what you think, “It’s college, nobody cares.” But I am that one girl that cares about how she looks and what she wears to class, so the winter is not my friend and any other student that is like me understands this struggle.

My motivation seems to be lower in the spring than in the fall. I’ve already suffered through one semester of classes and now I have to face a new semester with more classes.

But with the spring semester, that means St. Patrick’s Day and spring break. It’s always going to be a love hate relationship with the spring semester.

What are your opinions on the spring semester? Do you look at it as a way to start over or is it something you tend to dread? But hey, I mean, let the countdown until summer begin!
