Rent the Runway: Rent. Love. Return.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMU chapter.
Holidays, formals and date dashes, oh my! It is that time of the year again where every collegiatte’s social calendar begins to fill up with events that require more dressing up than the last minute sexy kitten costume from Halloween. Dressing for a fraternity’s winter formal or Thanksgiving with the family does require more brain power but it doesn’t require more stress. Thanks to the website, Rent the Runway, every collegiate’s dress dilemma can be solved.

What is Rent the Runway? It is every collegiate’s dream come true. Rent the Runway, RTR, is a website that let’s members rent designer dresses to wear for special events. These dresses come from over 95 designers including popular brands Hervé Léger, Badgley Mischka, Alice + Olivia, etc. and the best part is they are rented at 90% off retail prices. With those amazing prices and designers you are going to find more events to attend just for the sole purpose of dressing up, say goodbye to untagging those outfit repeated photos.

Now comes the most important part, how. To gain access to renting these dresses you must become a member, simply go to www.renttherunway.com<http://www.renttherunway.com> and sign up for free. After doing this, your closet will instantly double in size and you will never think the words, “I have nothing to wear!”, ever again. The layout of the website allows you to shop for dresses by occasion, designer, color, date of event and other simple categories. Once you have selected the perfect dress you then select a size, and can also pick a second backup size for free, then select the day you want the dress to arrive and rent the dress for either four or eight days.

If you haven’t already clicked out of the article to go become member here are some other reasons to love RTR. After nailing down the perfect dress you may think that’s only one part of the equation, you still have to accessorize. Have no fear, below the dress you choose there are accessory options provided to you from one of the sites expert stylists and are also available to rent. You are now officially prepared for the night. After you paint the town in your red carpet look, the next day simply drop the dress in the mail for free return and dry cleaning provided by RTR.

RTR was created by two Harvard business school graduates and since then these women have set up RTR branches throughout the country. SMU is on board with the phenomenon and you can visit the SMU Rent the Runway page here<http://www.facebook.com/pages/SMU-Rent-the-Runway/150238608329317>.

Happy Renting!
