Name: Matthew Centrowitz
Country: USA
Sport: Track and Field
Age: 22
Why He’s a Gold Medal Hottie: Even though he’s got a two-time Olympian father and was the youngest American athlete to win the bronze during the IAAF World Championships last year, Centrowitz was dismissed as a long shot in London. But in the true fashion of an unstoppable underdog (although let’s be real, here, it’s the Olympics, there are no underdogs), the 22-year old made his way to fourth place in the 1500m race – not too shabby considering he was only .04 seconds away from a bronze medal. “I think differently when I step to the line at a big race,” he says. “I now look at the other guys and tell myself, I belong here. I can do this.”
