Jenni Rivera, an acclaimed Mexican-American singer, was reported missing Sunday morning, when the private plane she was flying on disappeared. By Sunday afternoon, the plane had been found after it crashed near Monterray, Mexico, but unfortunately no survivors were found at the scene. Today we remeber Rivera, 42, and the six others who lost their lives in the plane crash.
During her career, Rivera sold more than 15 million records of her signature Banda music, UsWeekly reports. She was the first female Banda singer to sell out the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, and she was set to star in her own ABC show.
Rivera is survived by her five children. “Being a mother by far is my favorite and most important career,” she told Parade in August. “They take priority over anything else.”
Celebrities and fans reacted to the news with words of support for her family, and an outpouring of love for Rivera herself lit up Twitter in the hours after her death was confirmed.
The deadly crash is currently being investigated to determine the cause, CNN reports.
