Barack Obama Wins Presidential Election

Well, collegiettes, the results are in – according to most major news sources (stories here: CNN, Fox News, ABC, CBS, NBC, HuffPost, NYTimes, Washington Post), the next President of the United States of America will be Barack Obama, clocking in with 274 projected electoral votes (and counting).

However, the decision announced tonight might not be final. With a race as close as this one proved to be, both sides have legal teams fully prepared to sue, according to the NYTimes. That means the next few weeks could be full of recounts, including dipping into provisional ballots, and a further exploration of voting inconsistencies, like the one reported in Pennsylvania today. We might not know a real answer for some time, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

For now, though, it looks like the winner is Barack Obama, winning his reelection campaign to serve for four more years. Check out how your state voted on a electoral breakdown map. You can find them all over the web, like on Bing or Politico. Don’t forget to check out how your state is progressing on congressional races and ballot questions to stay fully informed!
