It may sound trivial, but the best thing I and my sibs ever did for my mom was have a "day of peace" for Mother's Day where we refrained from any yelling or teasing or bickering or any of those other joys that come along with being a sister. She really appreciated it, and it probably helped us get closer as a family.

My mom is really hard to buy for, because she'd rather give to us than let us give to her. But we got her a spa certificate for Christmas that she has yet to put to use, and we're going to buy her another one for Mother's Day so that she can combine them and get something even better/more expensive from the spa in our area. She deserves the pampering!

I surprised my mom by coming home for Fashion Week a day early this past February. My dad (a.k.a the least stealth man ever) and I made a whole plan and she had no idea. When she opened the door and saw me, my mom couldn't believe it and even started to cry!

I absolutely hate having my picture taken. As a result, the last really nice (read: not me with a reluctant smile on my face) photos of me and my mom are from when I was 12! For Mother's Day, I'm getting my mom a one hour photo shoot with me and then two prints of her choice. Photographers can be pretty pricey, so I decided to use a student photographer. I found a girl at my school who takes stunning pictures at a great price.

Last year for my Mother's Day I actually bought my mom a plane ticket to come see me at school the following September. Because I bought the ticket far in advance, it wasn't too expensive. I go to school in Pennsylvania but I'm from Seattle, so she had only been to visit me a couple of times right when I started college. I'm a senior now, so she loved being able to spend time with my friends and see my life now that I'm very settled. It was definitely one of the most awesome gifts I've ever given!

My mom loves the song 'The House That Built Ne'er’ by Miranda Lambert. So last year I made a video of me singing it and put in pictures from over the years. Tear-jerker but she loved it!

Every Mother's Day I get my mom a bead for her Brighton charm bracelet. The bead always corresponds to some major event from the last year. This year I'm getting her a special Ohio University Bead to commemorate my college years and everything she has done to help me along the way.

Every year, I make my mom breakfast in bed. I'm not talking Lucky Charms, I go all out with eggs benedict and fresh fruit. And even though I'm 20 years old, I still make her a handmade card because I know they're her favorite. You're never too old to show love to your mom!

To be honest, the sweetest thing I can do for my mom is simply to come home for a couple days! She loves having me around and I only go home about twice a year, otherwise, when I'm away at school.

When I was little, my sisters and I used to make our mom breakfast in bed every Mother's Day (with the help of dad of course!) This year, we are planning a surprise spa day to show how much we appreciate her putting up with all of us girls!
