It’s an app-centric world, and it’s hard to tell what is necessary to have on your smartphone or tablet. What’s the best game to play? How can I listen to music on-the-go? Is there a way to manage all of my social media accounts a little bit easier? We’ve got the answers to all those questions and more, as the collegiettes at Her Campus are sharing their favorite apps so you know what to download!

And as always, let us know your app recommendations by leaving a comment below!
UrbanDaddy! You enter your location, who you are with, what you are looking to do (dinner, drinks, dancing, etc) and it not only tells you many options, but how far away they are, a little bio of each place, and maps out how to get there for you! Its wonderful if you find yourself out of your own neighborhood and looking for something fun to do!

I love my Pandora app! I often find myself getting bored with my own playlist and Pandora helps break that up a little. I can create multiple radio "stations" to fit whatever mood I'm in, while discovering new music.

Shazam is great if you're at a concert, bar or party and hear a song you love but can't figure out what it is. Just hit the "Shazam" button and it'll give you the title, artist and album! There's even a link to automatically download the track from iTunes.
As a hockey fan, I also love the NHL GameCenter app, which allows you to track, listen to or even watch live games from your iPhone!

My favorite app of the moment is actually a game. It may be my artistic side that has a little bit of a bias, but Draw Something is so fun! And it's great for a laugh when you're playing with friends.

A brand new app just launched on our campus called uTaP. The app lets you message any other students who are close by you geographically. Then anyone who opens the application can see these messages and comment on them, like them, or send private messages to other users. You can control your privacy and it's an awesome way to find out about restaurant/bar specials, parties and other events on your campus!!

If you have an iSomething, you need to use and abuse those photo apps. Everyone knows about Instagram, but have you heard about "CatLovers"? Trick your friends by inserting cats into your favorite Kodak moments.

My favorite app is a game called 7 Words. It is basically a word scramble game where you are given clues and you have to put together a group of letters that answer the clue. It is super addicting — once you download it, you won't be able to keep off of your phone. It can be dangerous during classes, especially the more dull, boring lectures.
