Lose the Freshman 15: Quick Morning Gym Routine

Hey collegiettes! Today was awesome; awesome in the sense that I pushed my lazy self to get up early this morning and go to the gym before my first class! This is surprising to me because I’m usually the biggest advocate for sleeping until as late as humanly possible, but then I realized that once I established a routine everything became much easier. I’d like to share how I get pumped to go to the gym early in the morning, and hopefully some of you will be motivated to do the same!

Step 1: put your phone/alarm clock far away from you so you have to physically have to get up to turn it off

Maybe this is just specifically for me since my bed is lofted, but I know that my laziness is so difficult to overcome that once I climb down the ladder to turn off my alarm, I’m too lazy to go back into bed so I think I might as well start my day.

Step 2: Get ready in a cute gym outfit

Okay, this doesn’t necessarily have to be a cute outfit, but I always feel better knowing I look good while working out, in case a celebrity might walk into the gym at any moment and randomly propose to me. Thanks to New Balance, I don’t have to worry about that anymore because they sent us bloggers amazing gym clothes, check ‘em out:

Top this beauty off with a classic sock-bun and you’re good to go!

Step 3: Have a kickin playlist ready

Music is the best mood changer/enhancer, and can make the difference between me going 5mph on the treadmill and going 6mph. I’m in LOVE with this playlist, it’s filled with songs to get you pumped before most people have even woken up: http://www.refinery29.com/work…

Step 4: look at something aesthetically pleasing before walking out the door

Personally, I prefer something like this picture of Trey Burke

I just…I can’t even. How can that not put a smile on your face? I can’t think of a better motivation to work out.

Yeah, that’s basically the gist of it. Yesterday the SELF Drop 10 email told me to try some sculpting exercises with weights, and that was so intense. It was actually not that bad in the moment, but today I don’t think I can completely feel my arms. Today was a light cardio day, which was my favorite because I got to jog/power-walk around the track for 45 minutes enjoying this gorgeous spring weather Michigan’s been having lately. Also, did any of you know the Lose 15 Dietbet game has over $1000 in the pot?! That is INSANE! There is still time to register, so I’ll post the link below so you all can get in on the action.
