As summer fashion trends emerge, we can’t forget about the makeup trends too.  Sometimes a girl’s makeup adds the perfect touch to any outfit.  Our skin, eyes, cheeks and lips are ready for a fresh start to summer, without going over our college budgets.  Los Angeles-based makeup artist Jacklynn Evans, whose clients have included Paula Abdul, Michael Jordan, Julianne Moore, and P.Diddy, knows exactly where to find summer makeup trends for less.

Summer Makeup Trend: Super Soft Skin and Lips

According to Evans, healthy skin creates the best base for makeup. Before applying makeup, make sure to take good care of your skin with daily moisturizers, cleansers, sunscreen, and lots of water to prepare for the summer heat.

Summer Makeup Trend: Blue Eyeliner and Long Lashes

Evans says that this summer, eyes are all about blue, teal, and green eyeliner with big lashes.  She recommends going light on the eyes for daytime and heavier at night.  Evans also suggests going lighter on the eyeliner and heavier on the mascara to make the eyes pop.  Additionally, she recommends lining your eye with a white eyeliner before applying a colored liner for a softer look. And most importantly, her number one rule is to never go overboard with makeup; it’s all about looking fresh and natural, even when you’re using color.

Recommended eyeliner: Cover Girl Exact Eyelights in blues, teals and greens, $7

Summer Makeup Trend: Coral lips…and yes, red lips are still in!

According to Evans, red lips are still in!  Just be careful which tone of red you use.  For lighter toned skin, wear plum reds, and darker toned skin types should use burgundy reds.  Coral tinted lip-glosses are also a new summer trend.  Evans says to make sure your lip gloss is not too sticky and thick, but “barely there.”
