Add Some Fun to Your Rainy Binghamton Wardrobe11/12/2012 |
Binghamton is known for its rainy, dreary weather. Because of this reputation (along with all the Hurricane Sandy talk on campus, in social media, and in the news), I was inspired to go on a hunt for stylish pieces to wear in the gloomy Binghamton weather. Rainy days don’t always have to mean walking around in a rainy daze. You can still feel good about yourself and keep your mood up with cute rainy day outfits.
Normally we think ponchos, chunky rain boots and frizzy hair when we look out the window and see gray skies and droplets splashing onto puddles. Instead, give these alternatives a try.
Trench coats are a great option on stormy days. They have the same function as rubbery-feeling rain coats but with a sophisticated feel. Choose one with a hood to protect your hair from the rain. Along with that, opt for a belted waist at a length a smidge above the knee.

How to Beat the Cold with Hot Downtown Outfits10/10/2012 |
It‘s Friday night. You’ve been looking forward to the weekend after a week of textbooks, coffee headaches, early classes, and last minute assignments. Your smoky eye makeup has been completed, and you’ve finally achieved the perfect amount of wave in your hair. You’re almost ready to go out when you open your closet and repeat the same frustrated sentence you uttered last weekend: “I have nothing to wear!” For Binghamton students at this time of year, it’s hard to find a downtown outfit that is stylish and sexy that still keeps us warm during chilly fall nights. The nights of little strapless neon dresses are over. Rather than sticking with the traditional autumn shades of browns and maroons this fall, try taking a hint from September’s New York Fashion Week trends! We saw different fun shades of pink all the way to the stand-out shades of fuchsia. Try incorporating these colors in the form of a heeled bootie or closed toe platform pump, which will help keep your feet warm while still achieving the height and feeling of an open summer heel. Steve Madden’s “Hartles” bootie in blush suede is a great choice; the rhinestones trickling down the back of the heel add drama and glamour. |
