Music Blog: 'Tis the Season!12/19/2012 |
'Tis The Season Fa La La La La La La La La Mistletoe, Christmas cookies, ginger bread houses and chestnuts roasting on an open fire, are just a few of the many infamous holiday traditions. Though you may think you are now set with your holiday festivities, you are sadly mistaken. No holiday tradition is complete without the Christmas music! So here at HC Suffolk we compiled a list of some of the most beloved and traditional holiday tunes, but we didn’t stop just there. This traditional playlist has a bit of a spin to it. It includes artists who are near and dear to our hearts. Some of them are before our time, some have nearly raised us and made us the girls we are today and others are new and just beginning win us over. And remember, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!” |

Study Abroad Blog: Caitlin's Unofficial Guide to Madrid9/13/2012 |
Starting off college, I knew I was going in a different direction than most of my peers. Instead of venturing across town lines or even state lines, I made the leap across the Atlantic Ocean to go to Suffolk’s own Madrid Campus. While all of my friends shopped for dorm essentials, I raced around Boston to obtain a student visa, and tried to fit all of my shoes into a suitcase. Arriving in Madrid, groggy after a brutal flight, was a little scary at first, but my qualms were soon gone. The hustle and bustle of this historic city kicked all of my nerves aside. Aside from the churros con chocolate, or the mysterious Spanish charm, I did not know much about Madrid or even Spanish for that matter (I took French for six years!!). So have no worries you will survive here, and have an experience that will change your life. Expect the Unexpected Madrid is a very relaxed city with vibrant people, a mix of cultures, and a variety of things to do and see. However, girls, if you go out wearing your typical club attire, or your favorite Levi’s cut-offs, expect men to shout things and taunt you a little bit. Just remember, don’t take it personally, they do it to everyone, and it’s a part of the culture. It can be rather strange to get used to, and to be honest some people don’t ever get used to it. Oh, and if you have blonde hair, like myself, expect to hear “Rubia!” quite a bit. Take it as a confidence booster, and certainly don’t let it get you down. |
