Lose the Freshman 15: Indulge, But Don’t Over Do It

 

Hey Ladies! 

So I have a bit of a confession to make, this past Friday I kind of fell off track with Self’s Drop 10 Plan. Here’s how it happened:

Scene 1: Grandmom’s 94th Birthday Dinner
Time: 6:30 PM

Culprit: Ice Cream Cake

 I went into this dinner knowing that there were going to be temptations, but feeling confident that I could be strong.  I showed up, Lean Cuisine dinner in hand and ready to make the modifications needed so I could still enjoy the night without feeling guilty. I even saved my 200 splurge calories so I could indulge in a small piece of ice cream cake. Okay, okay. I admit it. I maaaaybe had an extra piece of cake, but that wasn’t even my guiltiest splurge of the night.

Scene 2: Her Campus Temple’s Free Food Fun Friday Event

Time: 10:00pm-1:00am
Culprit: Coconut Shrimp, Pizza, Hoagies, Soda


 


I had a little less faith in myself going into this event knowing that I was going to be serving food all night and the temptations would be endless. I tried to ignore the little voice in my head saying “You’ve been good all week, what’s one night of junk food going to do?” but temptation gave in. Throughout the night I mindlessly munched on all the yummy goods we had to offer and while I had an AMAZING time with my Her Campus Temple girls, I went home feeling like I had undone all of my healthy eating for the week.

New Morning, New Mindset: 
I woke up yesterday morning still feeling guilty but all of that changed, really fast. I realized that feeling sorry for myself wasn’t going to get me back on track. I thought about all the girls at the Her Campus Temple event that told me they have found inspiration in following my blog and I wasn’t going to let one night ruin all that.  I thought about how I can make changes for next time, like packing Self’s Drop 10 Snacks before hand to have something healthy to munch on or setting a time that I want to stop eating and holding myself to it. Then, I grabbed my sneakers and started the day right, with a Drop 10 HIIT workout.

While I am still nervous that my binge on Friday night will affect my weight loss for week two, I am not going to let that hold me back for the next two days. Be sure to check back on Tuesday to see how much I lost!
