Lose the Freshman 15: The crunch time munching guide

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

It’s crunch time– At least, that’s the phrase that means there is tons to do, tons to get done, and tons of stress.

Being a self-proclaimed emotional eater, I have to believe that  the phrase “crunch time” comes from the fact that when there’s tons of stress and things to do, people start crunching—on snacks that is.

I am no different. And while food should never be used as a crutch, sometimes a treat is nice during a stressed out time. With trying to succeed on the Jump Start Diet, I decided I need to be proactive in managing my munchies.

I’ve broken down my top cravings and replaced them with healthier options that still give you the satisfaction a stressed out person craves.a023266a

Old craving: Wendy’s Frosty
Replacement: Skinny Cow chocolate ice cream truffle bars

I LOVE Wendy’s chocolate frosty. A small is only 99 cents and actually better than most other fast food milkshakes. However, there’s always the temptation to go bigger or stop by the drive-thru more than once in a week. Not good. Skinny Cow’s chocolate truffle bars are only  100 calories and have taste EXACTLY the same as a frosty, in my opinion. Keep these in your fridge and not only do you eliminate unnecessary calories, you also save time from abstaining from the drive-thru.14e583c5

Old craving: Greasy potato chips or French fries
Replacement: Popchips

Now, it’s no secret by now that I love popchips. But I have to reiterate it for this blog. I, like others I know, often crave greasy food when I’m stressed—especially if that grease comes from a potato. Popchips satisfy this craving without the grease and make the perfect munching snack.

Old craving: Pizza
Replacement: Amy’s kitchen pizza or English muffin pizzas4d1b9c9c

I LOVE pizza. It’s quick and delicious—perfect for an overstressed me. Luckily, when I signed up for the Jump Start Diet, it had recommendations for lunch appropriate pizza that doesn’t ruin my diet. It’s recipe for quick English muffin pizzas is amazing! But, if you think you don’t have enough time for even that, then Amy’s Kitchen Low Sodium Spinach pizza is definitely what your craving needs.
