Name: Jose Jimenez
Year: 2013
Major: Sociology and Pre Law
Hometown: Los Angeles

What activities are you involved with on campus?
I am a brother of Pi Lamda phi and am on the Cal boxing team. Right now I am in the pre season but next semester come check out our fights!

How long have you been boxing? Have you had any crazy experiences?
I have been boxing for 11 years. And I trained at Wild Card boxing club in Hollywood California where Manny Pacquiao trained!

All that training must make you tired, what’s your favorite food to replenish your energy?
I eat a lot, but I would have to say sushi.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Having boxed for 11 years, I’ve had heavy exposure to the entertainment industry in LA. That sparked my interest in entertainment and sports law. I hope to work for a sports agency one day, either for athletes in the NFL/MBA or individual clients.

How do you plan on breaking into the industry?
I know a Pi Lamda Phi alumni from UCLA who is a salary contract arbitrator. He’s been extremely helpful on how to get started and is a great mentor.

What is your biggest pet peeve about girls?
I don’t like girls that are really superficial.

What is the first thing you notice about a girl?
Her eyes and smile.

Other turn-ons?
I like lighter eyes and girls who are friendly and outgoing.

Any turn-offs?
Stuck up, unapproachable

What is your favorite pick up line?
I don’t have one.

Has anyone ever used one on you?
(Laughs) Yes. Do I know you from somewhere?

Did the line work? How did you feel about it?
(Laughs) I didn’t mind, I am very chill and am not one to be taken aback by a girl who tries to strike up a conversation with me.

Is there any advice you have for girls seeking out a guy on your team or in your frat?
I guess I would say that not all fraternity guys are what they are perceived to be. That also goes for guys in sports. Get to know the guy, find out who he really is before you get too involved.

I am extremely ticklish!

Any unique hobbies?
I like to ride horses. I’ve only done it once or twice but I really like doing it.

Twenty years from now if we can’t find you banging a gavel where will you be in life?
Hopefully not homeless! As long as I’ve got my own place, a job, and my health I’ll be good.

Ideal first date?
Something quiet. I hate gigantic over dramatic first dates. I want it to just be me and the girl.

Worst dating experience?
The girl asked me out and then expected me to plan and pay for everything. Get out of here.

Worst breakup?
I actually had to break up with a girl at her birthday party. Bad timing but she had to go.

What is your deal breaker with girls?
Girls with way to many guy friends. I’m not jealous but I’m not stupid.

How do you let girls know your interested?
Tell them. I’m a very forward guy.

Name: Tarik Kenan
Year: 2
Degree: LLB Law

Relationship status: in a relationship
What activities are you involved with on campus?
I’m involved with the Bracton Law Society and EELS.

What is your most memorable moment at Exeter?
I was meeting a girl on a first kinda date and we had planned to go to the cinema. I got there early and she texted me saying she was running late. So I thought that was the ideal opportunity to sneak a little KFC mini fillet in before she got there. So I ended up getting a fully loaded meal and whilst I was halfway through eating the burger a car turned up in front of me and inside was the girl and all her housemates. I was hoping that first impressions don’t last.

What qualities do you look for in a girl?
Obviously she has to cover the basics first: good looking, dresses well, and that I have a good time with her. I think I need a girl who knows how to put me in my place to be honest (whilst of course letting me have my manly moments). Also, she needs to make me laugh and be a person that I can trust.

What turns you off in a girl?
Greasy hair and bad breath… But seriously it turns me off when a girl is too jealous and full on. I like to be able to have a good time with a girl and not have to worry too much about her insecurities.

Who inspires you the most?
There are two people that really inspire me and they are both my mum and my dad but for very different reasons. My dad is one of the most hard working people I know and my mum is one of those people that always does the “right thing” and doesn’t have a bad bone in her body. I feel very lucky to have them as my role models.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Hopefully at that point I will be a qualified commercial property lawyer enjoying my career and making good money from it as well. I also want to set enough money aside to go travelling, as I didn’t have a gap year and am keen to do so. I really want to explore the Far East, Australia and North America so in five years’ time I may be somewhere a lot more interesting (and warmer) than England.

Confession: I used to love Nutella and refused to have anything else in my sandwiches when I was at school. I adored it so much that one Xmas I actually had chocolate spread sandwiches instead of turkey!
