Amazon Prime’s “Try Before You Buy” Feature Will Totally Change The Way You Shop

When it comes to fashion, I’ve always been partial to in-person shopping vs. online ordering. Maybe it’s because I’m in the upper range of standard sizing and clothes often fit me quite differently than the models, or maybe it’s because it’s fun to spend the day treating myself. Either way, I’ve really always enjoyed a fitting room try-on, surrounded by bright lights, big mirrors, and piles of clothes in a variety of sizes, cuts, and colors.

Once the pandemic began and changed IRL events like in-store purchasing, I had to change my tune, as shopping from my couch quickly became the only option. Thanks to Amazon’s Try Before You Buy feature (which you can access with an Amazon Prime Student Membership), I’m not looking back, even now that fitting rooms have finally reopened.

If you’re not familiar with this Prime perk, you can think of it as bringing the fitting room into your bedroom, which really is a game-changer because you can take as much time as you need checking yourself out in the mirror matching it with other items in your wardrobe to create cute ‘fits. Plus, unlike regular online shopping, Try Before You Buy eliminates the hassle of racking up a big credit card bill that needs to be paid off, even if you plan on eventually returning most of the items.

The best part about the Try Before You Buy feature on Amazon? It’s super easy!

All you have to do is shop on Amazon for clothing, shoes, jewelry, and accessories just like you regularly would, but filter results to “Prime Try Before You Buy.” Then, choose up to six items, and they’ll be delivered in 4 to 6 business days! Keep in mind that though it takes a bit longer than Prime’s regular two-day shipping window, it’s because Amazon consolidates these into as few boxes as possible to make it more eco-friendly than typical online shopping.

Once the last item is delivered, you’ll have a week to decide what you want to purchase and keep, and what to return (for free!) in their resealable packaging.

If you need some help figuring out what pieces you want to try out, there’s a Personal Shopper styling service available that replicates the experience of a knowledgeable salesperson. For only $4.99 per styling, a stylist does the shopping for you, and you can choose up to eight items from their curated selection to try before you buy.

So what are you waiting for?!

Whether you’re looking for a cute New Year’s Eve outfit or are just looking to expand your casual winter wardrobe, you can use Amazon Prime Try Before You Buy to put together full looks from head to toe.

Happy shopping!
