Top 5 Fashion Instagrams to Follow

As an avid iPhone user, I tend to spend a lot of times on my apps. Facebook, Twitter, and, of course, Words With Friends are some of the more popular ones but recently I’ve really gotten into Instagram (yes, I realize I’m just a little bit behind…). For those who don’t know, Instagram is an iPhone application that allows you to snap photos, choose a filter to make it insanely cool, and then send it to Twitter, Facebook, or Flickr. It’s that easy. Another component of the app is the ability to follow other accounts, which is great because some of my favorite brands and fashion figures have one too! Here are the top 5 fashion accounts you should be following on Instagram:

@katespadeny
Two words that immediately come to mind when I think of Kate Spade are colorful and fun. And this is exactly what you get with their instagram. Recent photos include a fresh lemonade, a very fashionable manicure, and shoes from their current collection. While a majority of their photos might not be directly fashion related, the Kate Spade Instagram does a great job at getting the feeling of their brand across and making it a go-to place for their fans.

@evachen212
Eva Chen, Beauty Director at Teen Vogue, has been taking the social media world by storm. She recently launched a Tumblr blog, YouTube channel, and her Instagram account. On each platform, she gives a different behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in her life at Teen Vogue and various fashion events. Since she is a Beauty Director, a lot of her Instagram photos are of her manicure or favorite beauty products but she also loves to include recent purchases, current outfits, and backstage snapshots.

@nytimesfashion
The New York Times (NYTimes) has a ticket to pretty much all of the best fashion events, which can mean anything from runway shows, soirees to celebrate designers, or even just store openings. Either way, NYTimes is there snapping photos to put up on their Instagram. While other brands and fashion icons have more of a narrow focus to their accounts, NYTimes is very broad in their coverage so it’s perfect for finding out about almost everything going on in the fashion world.

@refinery29
If you’re already obsessed with Refinery29, hop on over to their Instagram account to find some random pics (their office puppy, Ellie, playing with cats) mixed in with great beauty and fashion photos. Some of their recent snapshots include scenes from backstage at their Dior Beauty shoot, a lace collar from Valentino, and a Proenza Schouler inspired nail DIY.

@oscarprgirl
I cannot get anough of OscarPRGirl (AKA Erika Bearman). After following her Tumblr for quite some time, it just made sense to check out the Instagram account too. Snapshots on here focus a lot on what goes on behind-the-scenes at one of the most prestigious fashion houses in the world: Oscar de la Renta. Besides these photos, there are a lot of pictures of Erika in some of the beautiful De La Renta gowns. This is a definite must follow for any collegiette who loves luxury designer goods.

Although she is originally from Orlando, Florida, Brooke Kamenoff wanted to leave behind the warmth and sun to experience a real, snowy winter at Northeastern University. Currently a sophomore, she is working towards a degree in International Business with a focus on Spanish. Brooke is involved in the fashion club, language classes (both Spanish and French), and the newspaper on campus. In high school, she served as academic editor and then editor-in-chief of her school's yearbook, which sparked her interest in journalism and media. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, perusing fashion blogs, discovering new music, and watching her favorite TV shows online.
