How do I wear them?
1. Bottom dictates top!
Glamour‘s article “Rachel Zoe Dresses You in the Long Trend,” tells us that the fullness of the skirt should “dictate what’s on top.” For tighter, more form-fitting skirts, try a loose-fitting “knit-sweater, tee or tank.” For fuller skirts, try a tighter top. The American Apparel Cotton Spandex Jersey would look great under a loose, flowy skirt!
2. Don’t forget accessories!
Rachel Zoe also says to “add bangles, big earrings or cocktail rings” to your ensemble.
3. Flats, Boots, and Wedges!
Stylist Stephanie Macoul from LF has some advice for shoes:
“With a long skirt, the way to keep it young and edgy is to do it with a flat. I’m really into a boat shoe (think sperry topsider) or a combat boot. With a boot, knot up one side of the skirt so you can see the shoe (this will help with skirts that are too long as well!) and add some interest to the outfit. Flat sandals are always an option as well for a beachy/more girly look. And if you are going to wear a heel, make sure it’s a wedge – you run the risk of stepping on your skirt and ripping it when wearing a stiletto!”
