Who doesn’t love the first few glorious days of spring? The sun on your face, flowers in bloom, and the smell of freshly-cut…hair. Chopping off long layers or playing with a new hue simply radiates  fresh, but do the new trends work for everyone? The HC team assembled to share our reactions on four celebrity spring awakenings, and the views are as varied as the trims themselves.

Brooklyn Decker, Swimsuit model, Actress
Shed prototypical Victoria’s Secret waves  for a shaggy bob

“So fresh and sexy for spring. She makes it clear that long, flowy hair is not the sole path for women aiming to be bombshells. Fierce.”
Rebekah Meiser, Contributing Writer

“Brooklyn’s haircut definitely makes her look more mature! I like the bob when it’s messy, but she looks too old (and like Jenny McCarthy) when its curly.”
Cara Sprunk, Managing Editor

Olivia Palermo, Ubiquitous fashionite, Whitney Port nemesis
Va-va-va-voom rendition of the season’s long bob

“This hairstyle doesn’t seem like it would work on many women, but with Olivia’s gorgeous features, the style looks casual, put-together and classic.”
Audrey Nelson, Skidmore Campus Correspondent

“Olivia Palermo is a style and beauty goddess in my eyes, but her voluminous style looks more like an odd wig than her own gorgeous locks. It’s off centered and unflattering–but the color is gorgeous!”
 -Rebekah Meiser, Contributing Writer

“Looks more like the bob is wearing her!”
-Stephanie Sullivan, Sales & Marketing

Scarlett Johansson, Tony-Award winning actress
Punched up her signature blonde for a texturized crop

“I like how Scarlett wasn’t afraid to cut her luscious locks. She looks great with her shorter hair and it accentuates her face! It’s nice to see these celebs with shorter hair, since attaining long locks can often be unrealistic.”
-Nicole Karlis, Contributing Writer

“She’s doing herself no favors with this cut. I appreciate that she’s going for a more natural look, but with her features, she needs more volume. The style comes off as messy.”
-Audrey Nelson, Skidmore Campus Correspondent

“I love love love Scarlett’s darker bob and Brooklyn’s shaggy bob.  Maybe it’s just me, but I think they are perfect for spring.  They can be fun and relaxed but also chic.
-Maddie Bourque, Intern

Hilary Duff, Actress
Lightened up with blunt bangs & darker-at-the-root ombré highlights

“I love Hilary Duff’s long wavy blonde hair–light waves are very summer appropriate!”
-Nikki Williams, UMich Campus Correspondent

“Her straight-across bangs elongate her face.  I’ve always thought she looked cuter blonde, but I like her bangs side-swept better than straight.”
-Alexa Johnson, JMU Campus Correspondent, Managing Editor

“I LOVE Duff back to her blonde and I think everyone should try thick fringe once. It looks wonderful on her!”
-Leigh Maneri, Quinnipiac Campus Correspondent
