For as long as I can remember, dressing to impress the boys was always striving for sexy. Low-rise jeans, dipped cut tunic, and anything tightly fitted was in. The current trend focuses on just the opposite-real beauty-natural and minimal.
We all know that girl on campus: she’s wearing a loose dress, worn in riding boots, light makeup, and her hair is loosely pulled back just enough to look like she recently hopped out of bed looking beautiful. That’s the essence to this fall’s fashion trend; Vogue calls it, “Perfectly Imperfect” or as Sarah Brown from Vogue renounces, “Broken Glamour.”
Minimal chic, being this season’s biggest trend means sleek simple shapes-sharp and smart. But the no frills design is not analogous with boring and plain. This season’s minimal style encompasses lean lines; clothes that are close to the body but aren’t overtly sexy will serve you well. Keeping it reserved, not needing to be risque’, is a call to classy and elegant.
But straying away from loud colors, embellishments, and fanciful details doesn’t mean avoiding excitement. The key to minimal chic is found in the accessories- the worn in riding boots, bright orange hand bag, vintage cuff, or that pop of color in your fall jacket or everyday flats- its’ these individual accents that bring the look to life.
This fall’s “Broken Glamour” is a mere take on the concept that less is more- less color, less layering, but MORE accessories! Perhaps we should say, its’ all about elegance with a tint of funk?

Try to mix up your basic white button-down and straight leg jeans with a bright green satchel bag and leopard flats: Its’ minimal, tasteful, and most importantly fashionable.

For my first day of preschool I had three staple accessories: Bright pink lipstick, an old leather pocketbook, and my multi-patterned dress- even at a young age, I was boldy flaunting my unmistakable passion for fashion. That deep love for all things trendly ultimately carried me through the next sixteen years of my life. From party dresses to vintage shoes and eclectic accessories, style was always a key component to my existence. My previous internships as a freelance writer and a marketing intern at Turner PR, showed me how important the field of communications can be. And thus I have begun to explore how easily paralleled the worlds of fashion and communications are while working as both a fashion blogger and PR intern at Her Campus!
