How to Wear Stripes for Spring!

Stripes are the most likeable pattern, aren’t they? You just know if a stripe came to life, it would be all, “Hey girl! Let’s go shopping! Brunch on me! Your hair looks soo luscious today!” And it’s that very likability that keeps the stripe in Vogue, season after season, year after year, reincarnated in some new, fabulous way, whether it be vertical, horizontal, diagonal, or (see number two) all directions.

Naturally, the stripe for spring is always the best stripe, sassy as it is in all its candy-coloured sweetness, or nautical classicism, and with the turn-out this season, you’ll need to get in line early.

If you’re into brights for the nice weather, try a mismatched candy stripe in a crisply-tailored dress or skirt, and if a simple linear stripe is too boring for you, add visual interest to your look with a statement geometric pattern in a spring/summer palette: a mod lavender camisole in a simple cut like the one below by Tibi is an easy piece to match. If your style is closer to All American prepster, then the seersucker or nautical stripe is the timeless answer to a sunny May afternoon spent sailing in the bay. Finally, the stripe sportif is a must for the active collegiette who loves her track pants but would no sooner be spotted in them in public than beat Azarenka in a rally on a clay court.
