If you close your eyes and imagine 2000s fashion, its likely there’s one icon that comes to mind: Britney Spears. However, throughout the years of her all-denim ensembles, sheer and diamond bodysuits, and the sexy school-girl look that changed Halloween costumes forever; Britney has (surprisingly!) never been the face of a major fashion brand…until now.
On Monday, the fashion brand Kenzo teased fans on Instagram with a video showcasing a “mystery star,” however, it didn’t take a super sleuth (or the head of Britney’s fan club) to figure out who it was.
In the comments, fans tagged the pop icon, exclaiming that they “couldn’t wait” for the collection. While it seemed like “Britney” was synonymous with “QUEEN” in the comments, I have to admit that it wasn’t particularly difficult to spot who the “star” was, with her signature blonde hair and the classic Britney smouldering smokey eye.
Britney took to Instagram herself to confirm fans’ suspicions, with this photo that looks like a total #throwback.
Dressed in a trucker hat; a cropped, comfy-looking sweatshirt; a small, vintage backpack and a back tattoo that you couldn’t help but notice, its surprising that the photo didn’t have #TBT attached. Since all old trends seem to come back in style eventually (*coughs* scrunchies), it seems like this might mark fashion’s move away from the chokers and grungy style that was reminiscent of the ‘90s, and are back to the glorious 2000s.
Britney is the face of the brand’s newest campaign, Memento N°2, which, from the released photos, looks like it may have taken more from the era than just its biggest stars. Cosmopolitan was quick to draw a connection between a photo of Spears wearing head-to-toe denim with the iconic denim dress that she sported at the 2001 American Music Awards with Justin Timberlake.

Who else can’t wait for this stunning collection and to see more of Britney’s start in the fashion world?!
