The Best Celebrity Brands You’ve Never Heard Of

Twitter erupts every time Kim Kardashian launches a jewelry line. Bloggers race to review every retro-fabulous clothing collection Kate Moss designs. These days, any and every celebrity with entrepreneurial inclinations launches a brand of something—it seems as if Perez reports a new launch every day—yet, somehow, some of the best celebrity brands are completely under the radar. Luckily, HC has combed through the mass of recent celebrity makeup, jewelry and fashion lines to present this: our list of the top underappreciated celeb style brands.

Kat Von D at Sephora

In her Sephora-exclusive collection, famed tattoo artist Kat Von D brings the vivid colors and precise art of tattooing to makeup. Von D herself is a makeup fanatic and boasts an entire closet—yes, closet—devoted to her life-long pursuit of the perfect brushes and shades. Her dedication has certainly paid off in her Sephora collection, the best-sellers from which include never-fail liquid “Tattoo” eyeliner and eyeshadow sets that expertly explore the subtleties of hue by complimenting a popular color with a full spectrum from the same family. With her signature rose tattoo stencil adorning every item in the collection, Von D’s line is truly a marriage of her two passions: tattoos and cosmetics!

The Rachel Zoe collection

Finally, the ultimate fashion critic has become a fashion creator! Infamous stylist and Bravo reality star Rachel Zoe launched her own collection this winter to be sold at New York’s LF boutiques. The line offers stylish wardrobe basics for any fashion-conscious city girl—from Conde Nast-worthy workwear to flirty party dresses—and, at roughly $250 for individual pieces, it is priced somewhere between what a typical college girl can afford and the high-fashion masterpieces the designer typically dons. Intriguingly detailed, impeccably tailored and infallibly functional, Zoe’s collection is faithful to the style aesthetic on which she made her fame. We die.

Justin Bieber for OPI and Walmart

Released in early January, Justin Bieber’s “One Last Lonely Girl” nail polish collection, like his concert tickets, sold out of stores in record time. OPI has already released a second version of the collection, proceeds from which support education in developing countries through the nonprofit Pencils of Promise. The collection features shimmer- and glitter-heavy shades aimed at Bieber’s teenage fan base but, let’s face it, everyone has fun rocking sparkly nails! The glitter topcoat aptly named “Step2 the beat of my <3” and filled with oversized metallic hearts, in particular, is too fabulous to ignore.  The second iteration of “One Last Lonely Girl” was released exclusively at Wal-mart in early February—we hope there’re still bottles left!

Kelly Bensimon’s Jewelry Line

Real Housewife of New York Kelly Bensimon went from flaunting fabulous jewels to designing them when she launched her jewelry capsule collection this year at New York’s Wink boutiques. Characterized by statement pieces with eye-catching movement—think suede fringe bangles and layered chain necklaces—Bensimon’s line is just as brash, beautiful and buzz-worthy as she is.

Sofia Vergara for Kmart

Colombian bombshell and Modern Family star Sofia Vergara will debut her design chops this fall by releasing a contemporary collection at Kmart. Fun and wearable, the collection features jazzed-up wardrobe staples such as a sequined mini skirt, jersey tops and, of course, a sexy LBD.  Vergara reportedly had a blast designing her freshman collection, each item from which will cost under $60, and the clothes are definitely cute.  If only we could all look as curvy as she does in them!

Ashton and Demi’s Jewelry Collection

The Hollywood lovebirds’ first jewelry was appropriately launched on Valentine’s Day and celebrates keeping committed relationships exciting through a handcuff motif.  Edgy yet surprisingly delicate, the necklaces certainly make a statement and support a good cause—half of the proceeds will go toward the couple’s fund to raise awareness about sex trafficking.

Nicki Minaj for MAC

Last November, MAC released a special edition frosted pink lipstick by Nicki Minaj.  Dubbed “Pink Friday,” the shade is just as fashionably playful as Minaj herself, and stands as a pretty, everyday way to emulate the star’s extreme style. It’s about time these two boundary-pushing beauty innovators teamed up!
