All my life, I have been afraid,

Waiting in the corner;

Waiting for everyone to forget me.

No one ever listened

Or asked for my opinion.

They just left me to my books.

I used them to escape; to run from reality.

I once tried to be on the stage,

But they shut me down.

The spotlights turned off.

Back to the corner for me.

I have been this way for far too long.

I never knew it until you came along.

You held out your hand

And showed me what I had missed.

With you

I was back in the light

Right by your side.

I shared my ideas

And you made sure I was heard.

I am grateful for you and all you have done.

Thank you for being my light in the dark.
