With all the terrible things happening to our environment, small changes can help. Since I’ve started learning about the Zero Waste Community, I’ve found that there always seems to be a multitude of things you can change. However, it’s not always easy to make these changes, and not cheap either.
Here’s a list of easy (even free!) tips you can do to help the world, a little at a time.
-
Ask for no straw in your drink.
-
Don’t forget your reusable water bottle/cup.
-
Turn down free promotional items. Especially if you know you don’t need it.
-
Go to the library instead of Barnes & Noble.
-
Donate unused items in good condition.
-
Try to buy second-hand first.
-
Swap your plastic toothbrush for a bamboo toothbrush.
-
Buy food without packaging or minimal packaging.
-
Try layers before turning up the heat.
-
Try opening the window, instead of turning on the AC.
-
Stop impulse buying!
-
Unplug electronics when not in use.
-
Ask for no plastic or reused packaging materials for online orders.
-
Reduce your meat consumption. Meatless Monday? Or how about Vegan Monday?
-
Use a cloth napkin, instead of paper.
-
Swap cotton pads for reusable rounds.
-
Switch from a plastic disposable razor to a metal safety razor.
-
Wash your clothes in cold water when possible.

Pick up litter when you’re out and dispose of it properly.

Go paperless for your bills!
