Every Xavier Student’s Parking Struggles

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

Having a car on campus is like being the cool kid in elementary school. You can leave whenever you want, go wherever you want, and you get be the savior of your friends who may not have reliable transportation. While having a car is fun, parking it on campus is a hard won game.

Finding a good parking spot is almost impossible.

And when you see one, suddenly you become an Indy 500 NASCAR driver.

Walking to the top of the hill makes you wonder if “Freshman 15” (or any year 15) is even true.

While on the way to R2 you question if anyone parked in R1 even leaves campus.

Begging for cars to offer you (and your stuff) a ride up the hill.

When you finally get that spot on Ledgewood or R1, you cancel going out and vow to never move your car again.

Following students in R1 in your car so you can have their spot while trying not to be creepy about it.

Realizing you don’t actually know how to parallel park.

Parking on game day… why even bother?

Parking wherever you want after a snowstorm because parking spots don’t exist.

Slowly stockpiling parking tickets because you’re fed up with parking across campus.

Debating how worth it waking up early to get a spot in C1 is.

Wanting to spend the night on campus but having to move from C1 to C2.

Knowing those empty parking spots during break won’t last.

Asking XUPD to drive you to your room late at night.

Dreaming of living off campus where you can park outside your building or, if you’re lucky, in your driveway.
