The 5 Best (and the 5 Worst!) Outfits from the 2015 Grammys

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Xavier chapter.

Hollywood’s award season is for more than just the winners – we want to see those dresses! We park ourselves in front of the TV, drooling over the gorgeous dresses from amazing designers that our favorite celebs wear while critiquing the ones that are too outrageous for us to even handle. If sitting through a couple hours of interviews isn’t your thing, don’t worry! We did all the hard work for you and have compiled our five favorites (and our five least favorites) for you to enjoy.

Worst:

Rihanna provided by Vogue

She showed up almost late for the Grammy’s and, even worse, she looked like a giant cupcake. While we admire Rihanna for her strength and attitude (as well as some amazing music), we weren’t big fans of this bright pink frock.

Kim Kardashian West provided by CBS News

We love sequins, and we might even admit that we love Kim Kardashian (at least we love watching her drama). However, there’s no way we can love this outfit from Jean Paul Gaultier. Aside from the bedazzled shoulder pads, it looks like she’s wearing her bathrobe out in public.

Meghan Trainor provided by Vogue

While we like what she was going for, Meghan Trainor missed the mark. The lace on the arms and her softly curled hair are both lovely; yet, the bottom looked awkward. Our humble suggestion? Have the dress underneath the tulle extend all the way to the feet.

Pharrell Williams provided by Washington Post

The bellhop look probably wasn’t his best. We already saw all the funny comparisons all over Twitter (and we may honestly like the giant hat better). Sure, we may not have been paying that close of attention to figure out why exactly he was wearing a bellhop costume, but, sadly, we weren’t fans.

Madonna provided by MTV

We love Madonna. Her performance was strange but awesome. But this look? Not so great. With the corset, the lace, the leather, and the fishnets, there’s a lot going on here, and not in a good way.

Best:

Beyonce provided by Huffington Post Canada

Queen B killed it again. The perfect mix of sexy and classic, her natural beauty caught everyone’s eye on the red carpet. Life goal: to be Beyonce.

Iggy Azalea provided by Huffington Post Canada

While we may be a little hesitant with the milkmaid braids, it’s no argument that this blue dress is gorgeous. Showing off your curves perfectly without being too revealing is a delicate balance, but Iggy pulled it off. Bravo!

Katy Perry provided by Billboard

Katy’s look is part fun and youthful, part sexy and dangerous. Maybe it’s because we’re absolutely in love with her gorgeous lavender locks or maybe it’s because we’re still in awe of that amazing halftime performance, but Katy’s look is a ten in our books.

Anna Kendrick provided by Huffington Post Canada

Anna Kendrick came as a complete surprise when she walked up to speak at the Grammys. While we wouldn’t have expected a suit jacket to look as cool and fashionable as it did, Kendrick proves us that sometimes less is more.

Taylor Swift provided by MTV

With the gorgeous sea blue shades and the fun purple pop of color in her heels, Taylor Swift hit a home run again with this dress. While she must have an amazing sense of style, we’re halfway convinced that T-Swift could wear a trash bag and make it look chic.
