RLCG: Is it Okay to Go Home Every Weekend?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

“I like to go home every weekend but my friends keep telling me I’m not doing college right. Do you think they’re right, am I doing college wrong?”

First of all, I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to do college. Secondly, I think that you should do whatever makes you happy. If you’re still trying to adjust to being at college away from home, it does make it harder if you go home every weekend. If you feel like you need to go home every weekend, then you should. If you feel like you should stay at school every weekend, then you should. You have to do what’s right for you, even if your friends don’t think it’s right.

We all have different approaches to college, but the important part of any approach is if it’s what you’re comfortable with. There’s no point in staying on campus during the weekends if you’re going to be unhappy. I think that as long as it isn’t negatively impacting your school work and it makes you happy, you should do whatever you want. Maybe your friends don’t want you going home because they miss you so much on the weekends. Regardless, the decision is yours, and yours alone.
