Timeless Fashion to Watch Out For

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Let’s face it ladies, we do not use those extravagant designer pieces on our wrists to tell us what time of the day it is-that’s what our iPhones are for! We can pretend all we want that most of us know how to even tell the time on some of those Roman Numerated watches (if the watches even include that much). However, this does not stop us from accumulating an expensive taste in designer’s watches like Michael Kors, Versace, Burberry, DKNY, Rolex, GUESS, Fossil, and Marc Jacobs. Watches nowadays are used to express someone’s style and fashion sense, instead of being the timeless piece people have used for centuries to tell them what time of day it is.The watch on our wrists are simply a fashion statement used to make our outfits look professional and trendy.

The way in which you present your watch can say a lot about your style. Oversized watches paired with a plethora of bracelets and rings on the same wrist adds the perfect touch to your outfit. This popular trend has led women to focus on the larger faced watches and to completely disregard the once small and sleek watches. This form of expression can be equivalent to telling a story. The more bracelets you add to your preferred watch, the more creative and unique your style becomes.

Color can be another style factor. Watches can be silver, gold, rose gold, white, black, tortoise shell, and can also be offered in limited edition colors depending upon the designer you are interested in. Rose gold has been a popular trend this past season and has overlapped into the Fall 2013 season too. Its versatile color can be dressed up or dressed down and looks great with any outfit. You can never go wrong with a classic gold color either for a more professional look.

The last style factor when choosing the perfect watch is the details of the watch. Is it sporty with a very plain face, or is it feminine with a diamond face and chain links? The way you can dress up the watch with accessories depends upon the style of the watch. If you go with a classic or feminine watch this can be easily paired with a plethora of bracelets to make your wrist a work of art. If you choose a sporty watch you normally do not accessorize anything with the watch and it is more a necessity for time than a fashion piece. No matter the style, color, or size of this timeless fashion accessory, it will always be a piece to “watch” out for when shopping.
