8 Health and Fitness Ideas for Busy People

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

1. Take the stairs: This is just a simple way for you to be in motion during the day. Instead of taking the elevator, simply take the stairs.

2. Meal prep: If you prep your meals at the beginning of each week, you will save time during your busy days. You can also portion control, make healthy choices and make it easier to resist the chance of snacking.

3. Stay hydrated: You should drink about half an ounce to an ounce per pound that you weigh each day. Dehydration can make you sleepy, have headaches and increase the chance of you having a bad day. Just carry a water bottle around with you and keep refilling it.

4. Set a schedule: Having a schedule will help you stay on track with your busy lifestyle. It can help you coordinate time for yourself.

5. Involve those around you: This is a great way for you to stay motivated. Having someone work out with will motivate you to not only let yourself down but to not let your partner down. Workout with other people, this way you are being social and adding fitness into your life at the same time.

6. Find a quick workout that fits you: There are simple workouts that take 25 minutes or less. Find one that fits you.

7. Sleep: If you are not getting enough sleep, it’s not ideal. You should sleep about 7 to 8 hours each night. You will feel better and it will show with your work.

8. Make time for yourself: It is important to have time for yourself. It will allow you to think about things you don’t normally have time to think about. It will allow you to sort through problems, get a better understanding of yourself and become more relaxed.

I am originally from Westchester, New York. I came to WVU for my undergrad in Strategic Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations and a minor in Sports Communication. My involvment on campus includes blogging for Her Campus, a sister of Alpha Phi, the assistant director of the media team on the Mountaineer Maniacs executive board and lastly, an athletic communications intern with the WVU Athletic Communications office. I will be graduating in May of 2017 and I am looking forward to getting started with my future career in Journalism and Public Relations!
