The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show aired on December 10th, 2013. Just in case you missed it or want to relive some of your favorite moments, Her Campus WPUNJ is here for your short recap.
The show was broken up into 6 different sections and included 4 different musical acts: Fall Out Boy, Taylor Swift, A Great Big World and Neon Jungle.
British Invasion
The British Invasion segment was the first to air. It sported a variety of different outfits, all of which paid homage to the United Kingdom. Some of these outfits included a soccer player, solider, policeman, and businessman.
It opened up with the Rutgers drum line before jumping into the madness of beauty. Additionally, Fall Out Boy opened the runway with their recognizable hit “My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light ‘Em Up)” with Taylor Swift joining them.
Victoria’s Secret cut right to the chase this year. Sporting the Royal Fantasy Bra, estimated at $10 million, Candice Swanepoel strutted down the runway. The 25 year-old model was at the peak of her career, donning the bra that had over 4,200 gems over it.
The segment closed with Lily Aldridge and her rock and roll inspired wings.
Shipwrecked
Then, slowing it down a bit, A Great Big World performed “Say Something”. It was very fitting, and it was a nice change of pace.
This segment dealt with a lot of tattered light flowing cloths, perhaps symbolic of sails on ships, and pieces that resembled rocks and ropes.
One of the cutest moments of the show happened as Behati Prinsloo posed at the end of the runway. Her fiancé, front man of Maroon 5, Adam Levine, gave her a standing ovation. It was really endearing to see her face light up as she spotted him in the crowd.
Parisian Nights
Opening this segment, expert Adriana Lima strutted her stuff in a bright red ensemble. This segment was set to Miley Cyrus’s “FU”. The song set a nice mysterious but upbeat pace to the walk. The segment was filled with black beads and lace. It was all very sultry.
This portion also featured the looks model, Barbara, in a black set of feathery wings and black lacey lingerie. The look was topped, quite literally, with an Eiffel Tower headpiece. (A looks model is essentially a mannequin for the designers to assemble the outfits on.)

Birds of Paradise
Fall Out Boy returned with their 2nd single off of their album “Save Rock and Roll,” which was very appropriately named “The Pheonix”
The Birds of Paradise segment was decked with exotic colors and feathers. All the models actually had pieces that were inspired by different exotic birds.
Lais Riberio opened up this part of the show because of a tragic accident last year. (During their dress rehearsal the day before, she fell and actually injured her ankle. She was unable to walk in the 2012 VS Fashion Show.) This year she sported a green, yellow, and blue feathered jacket with a cream corset and bright pink bra. She remarked “If I fall again, I’m going to use my wings to fly.” (Thankfully, she didn’t fall.)
Pink Network
As the name implies, the Pink segment this year was all about social media. Smilies, balloons, headphones and bright colors littered the runway.
It was also contained great product placement for the Pink line. They included their annual pink hoodie, which was completely decked out in silver sequins, and a matching Pink backpack.
Elsa Hosk, a staple Pink model, walked down the runway with a set of wings as a huge smiley. She also adorned a sequin hoodie and a sports bra that said “Pink Girls Rule the World.”
Neon Jungle preformed during the section of the show with their high-energy song, “Trouble”. It was very suitable for the walk since it seemed to scream that teenagers (the Pink target market) were difficult but that it wasn’t their fault.
Snow Angels
This was the last Victoria’s Secret portion. The runway was overrun with beautiful sparkles and white, like a true winter wonderland.
Taylor Swift returned to perform her hit, “Trouble,” decked out in a bedazzled dress. Meanwhile, Prinsloo opened the show with huge white feathery wings and a small silver jacket. All the girls looked really happy and divine in their outfits.
It was really sweet seeing real-life best friends, Swift and Aldridge, bond on the stage as they walked hand in hand.
The show quickly came to an end as all of the models and musical guests came out for their finale, the last go of the night. The musical guests bowed before they all headed backstage. The show all ended with a cute photo of the models.
