Do Pineapple’s Belong on Pizza?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WPUNJ chapter.

This is going to be the strangest article I’ve ever written but it must be done! The debate of whether pineapple belongs on pizza is a very controversial topic. I’m on the pineapple does NOT belong on pizza side.

  1. Pineapples are Fruits

Let us start off with the fact that pineapple is a fruit. Yes tomatoes are fruits too, but they belong for an obvious reason. Why should a fruit go on a slice of pizza?  The combination itself of a cold pineapple piece on a hot slice of pizza just seems weird and feels icky.

  1. Combination of Pineapple and Pizza

I don’t know if many people realize this, but both tomatoes AND pineapples are acidic. Your stomach will have a whole fiesta and the toilet will be calling your name. Pineapple is used in a lot of cooking recipes, but just the thought of combining both cheese and pineapple is not normal.

  1. Gordon Ramsey Does Not Approve

Research has been done and the famous British chef believes pineapple does not belong on pizza! Hearing from Gordon Ramsey about this topic should already have you switching to the no pineapple side.

I for one, love pizza and believe, no , I know pineapple does not belong on pizza! The combination for one is not healthy for your insides and it’s strange overall! Order a simple half cheese, half pepperoni pizza and you will be satisfied! I personally go for margarita pizza or a chicken, ham, and meatball pizza. In the end, if you do get pineapple on pizza, you are also eating SpongeBob’s house! Come on now, be respectful to the sponge.

P.S. If you don’t get pineapple on pizza, this gif is for you <3
