The Vow, Did It Live Up to Its Promise?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WM chapter.

Avid movie-goers and hopeless romantics alike can appreciate the beautifully made movie, The Vow.  It opened in theaters on February 10th of this year, and has been getting great reviews.  According to Roger Ebert, “The Vow” is a well-behaved, tenderhearted love story about impossibly nice people.”  Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams deliver great performances as the characters Leo and Paige whose story was loosely based off of real people.

The Carpenters, the real couple behind The Vow, was the movie’s inspiration.   Although in an interview, Channing Tatum said, “Michael (the director) wanted me to take Leo off of the page of the script instead of [basing my character] on the Carpenter’s experiences.”  Either way, neither Channing nor Rachel disappointed in theaters.  The film received the No. 1 slot at the box office on Friday.  Not too shabby.

The Vow is a story about self-discovery and unconditional love.  Even though, Valentine’s Day has already passed it is a perfect love story for everyday situations.  I would highly encourage seeing this 104 minute film with your mom (which is always fun), your friends, or your boo!  It keeps you in suspense as you travel up and down an emotional rollercoaster (of love).  No matter what Rotten Tomatoes says, I vow that The Vow will not disappoint!
