Style Spotlight: Honora Overby ‘17

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WM chapter.

Major: Mathematics

Three words that define your style: “Eclectic, feminine, cute”

Who’s your style icon? “I don’t really have one, especially because my style varies so much. When I wear cute pink stuff, my inspiration is a Japanese street style and brands like Angelic Pretty and Baby, the Stars Shine Bright. When I’m more on the vintage, 50s-60s side, I draw inspiration from movies from that time and the general aesthetics of that era.”

What inspires your outfits? “50s-60s fashion; Victorian aesthetics, sometimes specific movies or books, like Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland; and Japanese street fashion.”

What fashion advice would you give to others? “An important thing is to pick a specific aesthetic and keep that in mind. That will help your outfit look cohesive. Also, make sure the colors you’re wearing are in a similar range (jewel tones, pastels, muted colors) and if you’re mixing color groups, limit your outfit to 2 or 3 colors. Lastly, balance is important. Don’t let all the interest of the outfit stay on one side or area. Even if you have one centerpiece, balance it with your accessories.”
