This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WM chapter.

Spring Break can break the bank, but it doesn’t have to! Even after months of saving, sometimes the few extra bucks can be the deciding factor when on break, and these tips will help you maximize every hard earned dollar you spend!

Check Online for Deals

Whether its through Groupon, TripAdvisor, or a similar site, scour the internet for the best deals possible. Whether its a great deal on a group adventure like horseback riding or kayaking or an awesome deal for dinner and drinks, there are so many different local deals to take advantage of, leaving extra money to spend on even more fun adventures.

Bigger is Sometimes Better

Instead of buying in smaller quantities more frequently, consider making the commitment to a slightly bigger purchase for more savings in the end. This can apply to anything from sunshine to alcohol, as buying in somewhat bulk usually guarantees you a better deal. Even better, if you’re traveling with a group consider pitching in and buying those bulk purchases together in order to save and not waste anything!

Spend on What Matters

When it comes to keeping a tighter budget the best question to ask is, is this worth it? Sometimes, the answer is yes, and you should invest in that great hat, that fun hour on the jetski, that 3rd (or 4th) margarita, but sometimes it just isn’t worth the few extra bucks. The better you get at distinguishing between what is or isn’t worth that few extra bucks, the more you will find yourself spending money on things that help make your break the best it can be.
