What Your Favorite Bar Says About You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

The greatest decision that a college student must make during any given week isn’t which library to study at, whether or not they can go another day without doing laundry, or if the leftover pizza from last week is still good. The most challenging decision is which bar you will go to with your squad. While you may mix it up from time to time, there will always be that one bar that has a special place in your heart. Find out what your favorite bar in Madison says about you!

Wando’s

There may be plenty of fish (or bars) in the sea, but for you Wando’s is the place to be. You’re a social butterfly who doesn’t mind sharing your fishbowl with other bar patrons, and you aren’t afraid of anything (like contracting mono from these random patrons you share your drinks with). You are determined and know that life’s a climb (as in you may need to climb multiple flights of stairs to make it to the third floor of Wando’s—where the good times are had).

Kollege Klub

If the KK is your favorite bar, you are either in Greek Life, seeking an athlete, seeking cheese curds, seeking an athlete who will buy you cheese curds, or you are too drunk and think you are at the Karaoke Kid (the other KK). Your life motto is “work hard, play hard” as there is nothing you enjoy more than FACing here after a long week of class.

Chasers

You are perseverant. No matter what your friends say, you WILL finish the ten tacos you ordered on taco night. You realize how precious time is and always cherish the good times—especially since there is a limited amount of days in Madison where it is nice enough to sit on Chasers patio and sip on margs all night.

Karaoke Kid

In your eyes, the Karaoke Kid is and will always be known as “The Real KK.” You are a confident person since you aren’t afraid to belt out your favorite tune in front of the entire bar (no matter how much liquid courage you have in you). You love reminiscing on the glory days of your childhood since 90’s classics, like the Backstreet Boys, are always your song of choice. Not to mention, you define squad goals when your whole crew hits the stage to grab the mic.

Madhatters

If Madhatters is the place to be, you are either an underager desperately seeking to experience the bar scene or a legal drinker desperately seeking to hit on an underager. You aren’t afraid to strike up a conversation with someone new seeing as the lack of a dance floor here means that you rely on your social skills to attract a significant other. Your memory isn’t always the best since more often than not you can’t remember exactly what happened at Hatters the next morning.

Whiskey Jacks

If your go-to bar is Whiskey Jacks, you like to grab life by the horns (whether that means grabbing the horns of the mechanical bull or living your life to the fullest is up to you). Thirsty Thursday’s are what you live for, and you don’t mind repetition, since dancing to “Cotton Eye Joe” week after week never gets old for you.

The Double U

Seeing as the Double U is the newest bar on campus, you aren’t afraid to try new things and are always looking for a way to switch things up. You don’t like to travel much, because why walk somewhere else to get pizza when you have the drunk munchies when you can get some delicious ‘za here.

State Street Brats

You are a true Wisconsinite who embraces the two main food groups of Wisconsin: beer and brats. You are a very versatile person as you can be found here at 11a.m. repping your badger gear and rooting for your team to watch the game, and back here 12 hours later in a whole new outfit, ready to tear up the dance floor.

No matter what your favorite bar on campus is, don’t be afraid to venture out and hit up some of the other bars that Madison has to offer. And always drink Wisconsinbly!
