Learn to live presently

College goes by so fast. One minute you are setting up your freshman dorm and the next minute you are planning housing for the next year. I often find myself planning things that are deep in the future. I am a junior now who already has my housing picked out for senior year, my senior spring break trip to Vegas planned and thoughts on where to have my graduation dinner. Always thinking about the future makes it hard to live in the moment. Since I want to soak up my years in college, I have found some tips on how to stay present that I want to share with you so that you live presently through major life events.

1. Spend time with friends and family

College is like a big sleepover every night. Make sure to spend quality time with your friends in the time that you have together. Plan a fun dinner, go out together or start a TV series. These are the memories that will last a lifetime.

2. Try to minimize multitasking

I always find myself juggling so many tasks at once. It is hard to look at your schedule for the week and not try to accomplish many different tasks at once. To help live in the moment, try to plan out your days and stick to a schedule so that you can minimize multitasking and take time for other things during the day.

3. take time for yourself

It is so important to take time for yourself. With all of the craziness that comes with being a college student, it is essential that you prioritize alone time. Some ways that I like to take time for myself are going on a walk, going to a workout class or watching a movie.

College ends in the blink of an eye. We constantly need to remember to live in the moment and not wish away time. Hopefully these tips help you stay grounded and present!
