Did you actually go to the gym if you didn’t post a picture of yourself working out? Did Thanksgiving really happen if you didn’t post a selfie that day? And do you actually love your boyfriend if you don’t post him as your Man Crush Monday every week? These thought-provoking questions have not yet been answered by philosophers, and until they are, girls will continue to post such things on various social media platforms. We asked three badger boys what they thought about the things girls post about on social media.
Vacation pictures of their legs and a pool
Dean: Hot dogs or legs?
Joel: So basique
Matt: I’ve taken a picture like that before
#TBT
Dean: TBT? Does that mean truth be told?
Joel: I’m personally ok with it as long as it’s a picture from more than three weeks ago
Matt: I used to do them freshman year where I’d literally use a picture from the night before. I feel like they have to be funny, no one wants to look at a sentimental Throwback Thursday
Posting a selfie on every holiday
Dean: Yeah I know it’s Christmas
Joel: “A holiday gives me an excuse to post a selfie”-every girl
Matt: I’m a sucker for a slutty pumpkin
Posting pictures with an inspirational quote for a caption
Dean: Only if it’s a Bible verse, I love me a good holy woman
Joel: A good movie quote always makes my day
Matt: The only quotes you need are those from Michael Scott or Kevin from The Office
Pre/post/any gym pictures
Dean: I like girls that twerk out
Joel: I think it’s funny when the pre and post pictures are within 10 minutes of each other
Matt: Props to you for being healthy
#ManCrushMonday
Dean: I’ve seen myself on there a few times
Joel: They don’t post enough pictures of me
Matt: I have my own Monday (#MattPetersonMonday)
Posting pictures with their significant other/PDA pictures
Dean: I am guilty as charged with this
Joel: Pictures with a significant other are cute but PDA pics are crossing the line
Matt: Like the ones I had to take last weekend (for Dean)
Selfie Posting
Dean: It bothers me when they post selfies that you can tell were screenshotted from snapchat. And if they’re selfies, why do you share them because aren’t they supposed to be for yourself?
Joel: Keep the selfies to snapchat
Matt: Just keep them to yourself
Excessive Hashtagging
Dean: #toocheesed
Joel: The Rosenberg Rule: keep it to 2 hashtags or over 7 hashtags
Matt: It has a time and a place
Duckface
Dean: It says “someone tell me I’m cute”
Joel: Second that
Matt: Third that
The happy bride Matt and his bridesmaid Dean show off their duck face after Matt said yes to the dress
Pictures with excessive cleavage
Dean: I feel like they just got out of a relationship and want attention
Joel: If they got it flaunt it
Matt: They speak for themself
Posting pictures in short jean shorts
Dean: I have better legs (Exhibit A: see photo below)
Joel: Spending a lot of time in the gym really pays off
Matt: They go great with a bag of wine
