A Quick Three Step Guide to the Best Nap of Your Life

The art of napping was not a skill that I mastered overnight (haha) but rather it took years of cultivation and finding the perfect way to achieve the perfect nap. In my humble opinion, napping is not something to be ashamed of because as a busy woman with a lot going on in my day to day, napping is the perfect solution to making myself more productive throughout the day. Hopefully, these tips and tricks that I have acquired over my years of training and practice can help you too!

The first crucial step to achieving a perfect nap is knowing your body and understanding when you feel super tired. Naps are not beneficial when you are only a little tired or feeling a little sluggish. Naps are the solution when you cannot keep your eyes open or feel that you are losing productivity throughout the day. Being able to discern the feeling of when you need a nap or not is the first and most important step to achieving a perfect nap.

The second important step to a good nap is actually having a good, comfortable spot that you will nap in. In order to fall asleep and stay asleep during your nap, you need to feel as comfortable as possible. A bed, couch or floor if that is your thing. I also recommend making sure that there is little light so you can trick your brain into thinking it is time to sleep. Getting your body in the mood for a nap (even if it always feels in the mood) is how you can achieve a restful sleep.

Finally, the most important step to the perfect nap is how long you nap. This is by far the trickiest step to a perfect nap because it can either work out perfectly or you are left tired the rest of the day. I typically set a timer for a nap between 20-30 minutes. That is the best amount of time to get some rest while still trying to be productive. Anything over that can become detrimental to the rest of your day because oftentimes you might wake up groggy and even more tired. If you need something more intense, an hour can be the perfect fit. At the end of the day, you just have to know when your body feels rested.

In the end, or the end of the nap, it’s all about feeling rested! Naps are not as daunting as some people may think, in fact, they are my favorite thing! It just takes some time and knowing what your body needs. A girlboss can do anything, especially napping!
