8 Fun Things To Do in the Area This November

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

With the weather cooling down and winter fast approaching, it’s time to cram in all the fun fall activities! This is the time for pumpkin flavored everything, sweater weather and changing leaves. Before you go into hibernation mode for the winter, check out some of these fun things to do on campus!

1. Try new coffee shops

Branch out from that PSL and try a fall drink at one of the many coffee shops on campus. Colectivo’s “Chaider,” a mix of chai and cider, is my new favorite seasonal drink. Michaelangelo’s and Fair Trade are also perfect for studying or just hanging out.

2. Put together fall outfits

Fall attire is one of the best things of this season, hands down. Arranging outfits is almost as fun as strutting down University Avenue in your riding boots, wool socks and cardigan. If you don’t have a fully-stocked fall wardrobe, no need to worry — the shops on State Street are calling your name!

3. Bake Pinterest-worthy fall treats

Look through Pinterest for some yummy fall recipes, and have a baking day! Cookies, muffins or breads are always a good call.

4. Go to Picnic Point

Go on a nature walk at picnic point to escape reality for a bit. The changing leaves give off the perfect Insta-worthy aesthetics, and it’s the perfect spot for campfires with friends (s’mores, anyone?).

5. Buy fall food at the Farmers’ Market

Spend a Saturday morning stocking up on fresh, seasonal food for your dorm or apartment. Who doesn’t love apples, apple cider, veggies, muffins, sourdough bread and fresh Wisconsin cheese curds? Don’t forget to decorate your room with all the cute flowers you can get at the market!

6. Eplegaarden

Venture off campus to pick apples, pumpkins and raspberries at Eplegaarden! It’s a cute farm that’s around 20 minutes away, and you can buy apple butter and cider! What else could you want?

7. Go to a concert

All of the concert venues around Madison make it easy to check out one of the many cool bands playing this fall!

8. Get excited for Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a time to see family, eat yummy food and be thankful. If you’re in Madison for the weekend, check out the Turkey Trot 5K and the Thanksgiving Day Parade. You can also join Badger Volunteers at the local food pantry to help families in need.

Fall is short and sweet, so make it last before the winter tundra heads in!
