6 Study Tips From Your Favorite Upcoming Teacher

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

They’re tried and tired, but true

I am guilty of having a huge freak-out every time the end of a semester rolls around. There’s so much stress from school that it can be hard to take. Studying is such a daunting task, especially when it comes to retaining information and preparing for exams. However, with the right study tips and strategies, it is possible to make the most of your study sessions and achieve academic success. Here are six of the best study tips I’ve found throughout my time in school:

1. Create a study schedule

One of the best ways to stay on track with your studies is to create a study schedule. This should include a set time for each subject, as well as breaks and relaxation time. Having a schedule will help you avoid procrastination and stay organized and focused.

2. Take breaks

Taking breaks is essential for staying focused and avoiding burnout. It’s recommended to take a 10-15 minute break after every hour of studying. During your break, try to do something relaxing, such as taking a walk, listening to music or practicing meditation.

3. Use active learning techniques

Active learning techniques involve actively engaging with the material, rather than simply reading or listening. Examples of active learning techniques include writing summaries, creating flashcards and practicing self-quizzing. Active learning has been shown to be more effective for retention and comprehension of information.

4. Review regularly

Regularly reviewing study material and avoiding cramming before exams are essential for retaining information. Try to review your notes and study materials at least once a week. This will help you reinforce what you have learned and recall the information when you need it.

5. Create a study group

Studying with a group can be a great way to stay motivated and learn from others. A study group can provide a supportive environment for asking questions and sharing ideas. It can also be helpful to teach the material to others, as this can reinforce your own understanding of the material. Use this strategy with caution: study groups with close friends can either make or break the study session.

6. Take care of your health

Taking care of your health is essential for academic success. This includes getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise. Taking care of your mental health is also important, so be sure to practice self-care and seek support when needed.

At the end of the day, studying is always a challenging task, but with the right strategies and tips, it is possible to make the most of your study sessions and achieve academic success. By creating a study schedule, taking breaks, using active learning techniques, reviewing regularly, forming a study group and taking care of your health, you can set yourself up for success and achieve your academic goals.
