The world is full of musical artists. But which ones are worth checking out?

I love whenever someone recommends a new song or album or artist for me to check out. There are so many new songs being released by the minute, and I am always eager to dive into someone new’s discography. If you’re also looking for something new to add to your streaming playlists, I’ve compiled a list of five musical artists that are worth checking out.

1. Lexi Jayde

I discovered Lexi Jayde when her song “drunk text me” was popular across my TikTok for-you page. However, I have gone further into her music and discovered a talented singer-songwriter that I think anyone should give a chance. If you’re not sure where to begin, I suggest checking out her 2022 EP “closer to closure.” My favorite tracks are “gentle” and “homesick.”

2. Sudan Archives

The multi-talented Sudan Archives is a vocalist and violinist that I discovered through the release of her sophomore album in 2022, “Natural Brown Prom Queen.” If you’re looking for a more experimental sound with hints of folk, hip-hop, and R&B music, I highly recommend giving her a chance. My favorite tracks currently include “Home Maker” and “NBPQ (Topless).”

3. Ethel Cain

Ethel Cain is an incredibly talented singer and songwriter that takes inspiration from Christian music. Her debut album, “Preacher’s Daughter,” has a mix of dream pop and folk sounds that make it slightly reminiscent of Lana Del Rey. My favorite tracks are “Family Tree (Intro)” and “A House in Nebraska,” but I believe that her entire discography is worth giving a listen to.

4. Renee Rapp

If you haven’t seen “Sex Lives of College Girls” or heard snippets of “In The Kitchen” across social media yet, perhaps you missed the rise of Renee Rapp. Her EP “Everything to Everyone” does not have a single track on it that I would skip. If you’re looking to give her a chance, I recommend turning on “Too Well” or “Colorado,” my current favorite tracks.

5. Vivienne Artur

If Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, or Gracie Abrams are one of your favorite artists, then you’ll want to give the equally talented but much more underrated Vivienne Artur a chance. Her 2022 EP “Everything I Am” includes a few tracks that I have been keeping on repeat lately. My favorite songs are “Burning Bridges” and “Responsibility,” but it is worth adding them all to your library.

One of my favorite pastimes is listening to music, but it is not always easy to find a new artist to fall in love with. If you’re looking for some new songs to update your Spotify or Apple Music libraries, these are the five musical artists that I recommend you start listening to right now. Their current discographies are filled with amazing songs that I think anyone should listen to.
