3 Holiday Looks Inspired by Beyoncé’s Self-Titled Album

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

The holidays are hurtling towards us, and that means countless holiday parties, family events, and endless outdoors activities to fill your weeks.  With a packed schedule it can be difficult to keep your makeup looking fresh and original.

But, have no fear, Beyoncé is here!  As you probably have heard, Beyoncé dropped a super-secret, self-titled “visual” album last Friday.  Apart from the amazing music and superb choreography, Bey had some unforgettable looks that inspired these holiday looks.  Get ready for everyone to bow down when they see your album-inspired makeup!

The “Why, Yes, I DO Look This Fabulous When Making Snowmen” Look

Winter break means tons of fun outdoors activities, from ice-skating to snowboarding, to snow angels, to sledding, but that doesn’t mean you have to go totally bare.  Beyoncé proves that little touches can make all the difference in your natural look.

Start off by applying a light foundation that doesn’t cake.  Brush bronzer on your cheekbones, around your jawline, and on either side of your forehead for that easy, creamy, contour look.  Don’t bother with blush or liner and add a layer or two of your favorite waterproof mascara (to avoid smearing when hit in the face with a snowball).  Add gloss and keep chapstick on hand!  The frigid air cracks lips easily and you’ll be glad you had some Burts in your back pocket.  With this natural look, you’ll be looking so hot that the snowmen will start melting!

The “This May Be a Family Event, But I’m Still [Sasha] Fierce!” Look

The holidays mean family get-togethers, but that doesn’t mean you have to look drab.  Bey shows us that there is a perfect balance between “not enough” and “way too much” with this pop-of-color look.

Start by using a gold-ish brown color to line the edge of your top eyelids, but be sure to blend the shadow well to get a more natural look.  Use a black liner to line the inner top lid (sounds totally weird, but it makes your eyelashes look longer and eyes bigger!).  Curl your lashes and add 2 layers of mascara on your top lashes.  Finish off the look with a festive, red lipstick.  With this makeup, none of your relatives will be asking if you have a boyfriend.

The “Boys, I Can’t Kiss All of You At Midnight” Look

New Years almost always promises a great bash, so you know you need to bring your A-game.  Of course, you can be a little more dramatic with a New Years look, so might as well go big.

Now, since you have a dramatic eye and lip (usually frowned upon, it CAN be done), it’s necessary to keep your foundation very basic.  Don’t bother with a bronzer or blush; just make sure your skin is even so your other features can pop.  Line your lash line and the rim of your bottom lid with a black liner.  Get your silvery metallic shadows (3 shades- white, silver, onyx) ready and begin by covering your top lid with the silver.  Overlap the white on your inner eye and the onyx on the outer edge of your lid.  Blend the shadows to get a sexy ombre look.  Use the silver and white to frame the bottom of your eye, but be sure not to apply too low, or it’ll just look like you have really bad dark circles.  Then, be sure to layer black mascara on upper and lower lids.  Find a burgundy or deep rose lipstick to color your lips.  Add some gloss to keep the color from looking too harsh.  With this look, make sure to keep hair simple and pulled away from your face (IT is the masterpiece, after all).  When it’s all said and done, this New Year’s look might just catch the eye of your very own Jay-Z.

With Beyoncé as your makeup muse, there is no question that you will look Queen-Bey-level gorgeous.  No matter what you do this holiday, know that you’ll be doing it looking and feeling good with confidence that will have you feeling like you wake up flawless.
