Either you know Tim Gunn, or have been living under a rock with no fashion, Hedi Klum, or dashing suits. Here are 15 reasons to love him that will give you a quick look into who this man is.
1. His brutal honesty
When Kanye’s fashion line came out, Gunn was not hesitant in criticizing the pieces for their lack of creativity and basic feel. He was not intimidated by Kanye and his Yeezus, godly like persona and told it how it was.
2. The passion he holds for his work
As an educator he was a director of admissions for the Corcoran and worked at Parsons School of design as associate dean and became Fashion Design Department. Then he started mentoring on the fashion design relate show Project Runway where he became a household name. He is now the chief creative director at Liz Clailborne.
3. He has a BFA in sculpture
(High five to art majors everywhere)
4. His stance on equality in fashion
Tim is calling BS. This man is passionate about fashion, but one issue he has is with sizing. He has been very vocal through the years with designers and their refusal to make clothing for women sizes 14 and up. The designers say they aren’t the women they are designer for and the clothes wouldn’t look good on them. That does not fly with Mr. Gunn. He knows any woman of any size can be designed for and should be. Every women deserves to feel and look good in what they wear.
5. He is an open book
He opened up for the “It Gets Better” campaign about his struggles as a teenager, denying his sexuality, attempting suicide, overcoming depression and his celibacy of 30 years after a 6 year relationship.

As the mentor on Project Runway Junior, he thought he would have to hold back on his critiques. However he was quick to realize the young designers were eager to learn and in fact had SO much potential. They are now his favorites to mentor.
