We can all be emotional at times. We can all feel like the world is ending. But this is to the girl who seems to cry all the time.

This is to the girl who wears her heart on her sleeve. You get emotional over the littlest things, like noticing the change in tone of another person’s voice – or even text message. When other people can just brush off an embarrassing moment, you wear it like a badge of shame and replay it over and over in your head.

You come to tears so easily. You cry when you’re happy. You cry when you’re frustrated. Or angry. Or sad. Or for no reason at all. And that’s okay.

Girls with tender hearts are unique creations. The world needs more people with soft hearts because you are the kind of compassionate soul who puts so much value into everything and everyone you come into contact with. You may be highly sensitive, but you’re always putting the feelings of others before your own.

It’s not that you “care too much.” Rather, it’s because you believe in the very best of people, so you trust that there is always goodness in every situation. It just about kills you to see someone mistreated or upset. Never lose that affectionate disposition of yours.

Wearing your heart on your sleeve is not a bad thing. It makes you incredibly kind, compassionate, and open to the world. Your heart is difficult to ignore, but you’re able to handle it just like you handle everything else—on your own time and in your own way. The great thing about your attitude is that you believe that good will always prevail.

It’s certainly not easy when everything in the world comes to pierce that beautifully exposed heart, but you’re certainly strong enough to bear the weight.

You may experience struggles that seem like the end of the world, but you know how hard to work to overcome those obstacles. Take a deep breath and remember that your tears and emotions are never a burden.

To the girl with the tender heart, you are amazing. Never change who you are for anyone.

I will leave you with this poem by Nikita Gill entitled “Your Soft Heart,” as I believe it perfectly describes what makes having a tender heart a beautiful thing to cherish:

You are still the child who gently places

fallen baby birds back in their nests.

You are still the soft soul that gets

your heart broken over cruel words

and awful acts when you watch the news.

You are still the gentle heart who once

tried to heal a flower by trying to stick

it’s petals back when ignorant feet trampled it.

This is why you are important.

This is why you will always be needed.

Kindness is the greatest endangered thing.

And here you are, existing, with your heart so full with it.
