Hey Collegiettes! I recently saw the new movie Geostorm, and overall, I thought it was a pretty good film! So, here’s my review of it.

This Sci-Fi Thriller stars Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris, and Andy Garcia.

Summary

The film takes place a few years in the future after an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet due to the acceleration of global warming. Previously, all of the world leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe, known as Dutch Boy. Now, something has gone wrong, and the satellite is malfunctioning, attacking the Earth with deadly weather storms. It quickly becomes a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything and everyone.

Plot Review

I really liked this movie, because there are some things in the movie that could really happen. There is also a hidden yet not-so-subtle deeper message about how the world needs to put our differences aside and come together to work on saving our planet for the greater good.

Visual Effects Review

Honestly, the visual effects were fairly poor in the film. It looked as though it was a low-budget operation. One scene shows a space shuttle flying through outer space, and it looks about as bad as if someone filmed it using a plastic shuttle attached to a string.

Overall rating: 7/10.

I think it is worth the watch. Be sure to check out the trailer below!
