An All-Inclusive, Multipurpose Makeup Brand

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

As a person of color, finding makeup that suits me is a hard ordeal. I either find a shade that’s too dark for me or a light shade that just washes me out. Enter Live Tinted.

After countless times trying to find a way to make my foundation last longer, or not use too much foundation, I discovered a brand called Live Tinted. Live Tinted is a brand that is founded by a South Asian woman, Deepica Mutyala, who wanted to make a multi-use makeup product that can be used as everything. A color corrector, lipstick, a blush, and eyeshadow all in one product. And the Huestick was born. The Huestick was exactly that, a 4-in-1 product that you can use for one makeup look.  Ever since this Huestick was created, it has blown up all over the globe, with shipping domestically and internationally.

They started with 3 colors: Perk (a bright pink color), Rise (a burnt orange), and Origin (a bright/deep red). These were used mainly as color correctors but could also be used as blush, lipstick, or eyeshadow. Now they’ve expanded their line with so many other colors! Since expanding, they’ve added Found (a deep brick red), Balance (an earthy coral), True (a true nude), Grounded (milk chocolate color), Free (a bright berry color), Change (a copper color), and Legacy. These colors are not color correctors but can be used to make a flawless makeup look in under ten minutes. Legacy is a color created by Mutyala to pay homage to the South Asian wear of kajal, or eyeliner.

This company has also now created tinted sunscreen and highlighters as well. What started as an online company that charges $24 per multi-stick or 4 for $80 (which saves you about 20 dollars), you can now find at Ulta. If you are interested in trying them out, you can pick them up at your local Ulta to try them out for yourself.

This brand is not just for POC- it is for all skin colors and skin types!  They pride themselves on being inclusive as possible with all the colors and multi-sticks possible that you can think of. They also are good for your skin with hyaluronic acid and vitamins C and E.

It’s been praised on all the major beauty websites and magazines, with Mashable saying:

“Through Live Tinted, Deepica Mutyala hopes that these issues can be discussed by members of the community in one place and that by creating such a community, real change can be seen in the beauty industry.”

Allure voted them the makeup brand in both 2020 and 2021 saying,

“Now it’s also a full-fledged beauty brand, thanks to the launch of its first-ever makeup product, Huestick. And it’s no surprise that it’s an inclusive multitasker.”

The beauty industry is changing, and this is one of many brands that can be seen leading the charge for more companies to be inclusive and comprehensive as possible making sure to include everyone.
