This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

Happy Earth Day, Collegiettes! In honor of the one day a year we celebrate the planet we are slowly destroying, here are some small things you can do in your daily life to cut back on your negative impact.

1. Buy a reusable water bottle

STOP USING PLASTIC BOTTLES. If you have to use them, RECYCLE!

2. Wash your laundry in cold water

3. Turn off the lights during the day and when you leave the room

Enjoy the natural light as long as you can!

4. Unplug unused chargers and appliances

5. Use rechargeable batteries instead of disposable ones

6. Get a plant

7. Turn off the water when you brush your teeth
