Halloween is the time for tricks and way too many treats, especially because fall is full of different flavors and special snacks. Here are a few snacks that I traditionally look forward to every year or have just encountered this year.

1. Caramel Apples

a. This is a classic and a favorite of mine. I’m okay with lying to myself that this is healthy if I can have another one.

Buyer Beware: Steer clear of grocery store caramel apples and opt for those found at local orchards. They will often be fresher and of better quality.

2. Caramel Corn

a. I used to love getting caramel corn balls in my Halloween sack as a kid. But as an adult, I prefer to make it myself. This is easy to accomplish with some brown sugar, karo syrup and microwave popcorn… at least if you don’t mind getting your hands a little messy.

Lazy Tip: You can also buy a caramel syrup in stores that can be used on microwave popcorn!

3. Apple Cider Donuts

a. This is a newly discovered favorite of mine. A variety of brands sell this flavor of donut during the fall. My favorite would have to be the Talerico Martin Bakery apple cider donuts found at Costco.

4. Pillsbury Ghost Sugar cookies

a. This is something I’ve had since I was a child. I know Halloween is coming up when I can find these cookies in the grocery store.

Buyer Beware: These cookies are easy to burn, so keep an eye on them. Once they’re burnt they turn into hockey pucks.

5. Applebee’s Halloween Drinks

a. Flavors: Dracula Juice and Tipsy Zombie

b. Only $5 and great for those over 21 years old

Buyer Beware: If you’re looking to get drunk, these are not what you should order. The drinks are otherwise yummy.

These are just a handful of treats I’ve been enjoying during the Halloween season.
