Meet the Newest Addition to the Family: Walt

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winona chapter.

There has never been a time in my life when my family has not had a dog. Seriously.

When I sat down with my mom over a much-needed winter break, we started going through some old photo albums. (I know, who thought those even existed anymore.) Between my parents’ insanely retro college days and the birth of their favorite daughter, there was always a very large dog in their lives.

Throughout my life, our family has had two Akitas, one overweight St. Bernard, a Bernese Mountain Dog, and now, another: the cutest little puppy and soon, a gentle giant, was welcomed into our family on Jan. 11, and he has already taken over the house.

Meet Walt. A Bernese Mountain Dog with a huge head, huge paws and a huge personality.

His favorite activities include jumping in the snow, sleeping, watching football games on the couch and chewing on everything in sight.

Trust me, I wish that Walt was here in Winona with me—though my landlord is definitely very thankful that he’s not—but it’s hard to miss him when my phone is constantly being blessed with pictures of his cute little face.

To share the wealth, here are my favorite pictures I’ve taken of Walt to brighten your day, and, while you’re at it, feel free to follow him on Instagram!

Hi, I'm Tiegue! I'm a sophomore at Winona State University and majoring in Communication Studies. I'm a small-town girl from Wisconsin (go Bucky!) and when I'm not writing, you can usually find me in a coffee shop or with a camera swinging around my neck.
My name is Hannah Hippensteel, and I like to say I'm a Chicago city-slicker, but I'm actually from the 'burbs. I'm currently a senior at Winona State with a major in mass communication-journalism and a minor in sociology. Catch me enjoying all Winona has to offer: the bluffs, the incomparable Bloedow's Bakery, and not to mention, Minnesota boys. With a goal of working at Teen Vogue, Seventeen or Glamour magazine, I'm soaking up every opportunity to keep my finger on the pulse and share my personal voice!
