Courtney Conroy ’16

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winona chapter.

Name: Courtney Conroy

Year: Senior

Hometown: Apple Valley, MN

Major: Social Work and Psychology

Relationship Status: Dating Justin Bieber, he just doesn’t know it yet (laughs) Just kidding, single as a pringle.

Meet this week’s campus cutie, Courtney Conroy! She is a double major in Social Work and Psychology and genuinely loves working with children, whether it be through Big Brother, Big Sister, or delivering hats to children with cancer. If you see her on campus, she is definitely wearing a Love Your Melon hat and laughing her a** off.

HC (Her Campus): What are you involved with on campus?

CC (Courtney Conroy): I’m involved with Love Your Melon, Big Brother, Big Sister and I volunteer in the wellness department and pediatrics department at Winona Health.

HC: What is Love Your Melon and what do you do for it?

CC: Love Your Melon is an organization that raises awareness and money for children battling cancer. The money goes to two foundations: Pinky Swear foundation and Cure Search. I am an ambassador of the Winona State campus crew, so we promote their products and also go to different hospitals to hand out hats to kids battling cancer.

HC: Who is/are your celebrity crush(s)?

CC: Obviously Justin Bieber. And I can’t forget my homeboys Eric Decker and Nick Jonas.

HC: How’s the social work program going?

CC: It’s great. I love my cohort; we all get along pretty well.

HC: What is your dream job?

CC: I have two. My first one would be to be a social worker on a pediatric oncology floor of a hospital. My second one would be to work for Make a Wish Foundation and grant wishes.

HC: What do you look for in a fella?

CC: Oooo, they have to be nice. Athletic. They have to be weird, that’s a big one. Family oriented. They have to be driven and motivated with a bright future ahead.

HC: What has been your favorite memory at WSU?

CC: Oh my gosh. I have way too many good memories.  Probably handing out the hats for Love Your Melon would be one of them. Too many to count.

HC: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

CC: Australia, because there are hot men with wonderful accents there and they have a lot of wonderful beaches.

HC: What is your biggest pet peeve?

CC: I have a couple. I hate when people use the “R” word. Also, when people make fun of people or are just being rude to other people.

HC: Who is your role model and why?

CC: My older sister Amber, because I’ve looked up to her ever since I was a little girl.

HC: What are three words to describe you?

CC: Happy, energetic, and weird.

HC: Where could we find you on a Friday night?

CC: I’d probably start off working at Betty Jo’s, and then hang out with some friends and later you’ll find me downtown, probably at Market.

HC: How do you feel about being nominated for campus cutie?

CC: Feels wonderful, even though I’m 95% sure it was one of my roommates.
